Create & modify space shapes on floorplans
Supporting workplace environments who have constant changes (e.g. daily, weekly) on their floorplans such as movable furniture. Need to have the ability to update existing floorplans without the need to import an updated CAD file, i.e. add pre-defined space stamps, resize it, rotate it
For example(s):
Corporate Workplace: One week there may be a pod of desks or in a T shape, and the following week the pod of desks are changed into a U shape. In particular for those companies who spin up project teams and teams moving from one building/floor to another.
Non-Corporate Workplace: Movement of desks and furniture utilized by people/teams (e.g. studio sets, hospital)

As mentioned last week, we’re retiring this item (while keeping all of the comments) in favor of two new items that represent the two major parts of this idea:

I think the user story is: "As a agile planner, I want my floor plans updated quickly so that wayfinding is easy to do. I need this done on both bitmaps and CAD files, as not all floors have CAD files. I cannot justify a premium cost for this, as it is a basic adminstrative function."
Few admin users want to draw, and fewer want to draw with Web-based tools designed and implemented by companies that do not specialize in CAD and so don't amortize their costs for developing expensive high-quality drawing tools over a large number of customers. Backoffice CAD users want to draw, but they want to use professional tools.
The solution seems less of a feature and more of a service:
- Add a workflow so that customers can submit new drawings and redmarks of changes on existing drawings and track the progress.
- Form a relationship with an offshore CAD firm that will have a 1-2 day turn around for requests.
- Improve the SV drawing onboarding tools from AutoCAD and Revit to make these offshore resources more effective. Revit in particular makes scaling and annotating bitmap and PDF drawings quick. -

Client feedback logged 04/01/20:
"Ability to create and edit polylines within the space management system"
Current Workaround: Edit polylines within CAD and then import updated CAD file.

This will be particularly useful for those who plan to use Engage (uses stylized floorplans), where changes to the workplace can be quickly reflected in Engage, as well as Workplace.
Implementing this idea will allow:
1) adding/removing points of interest such as duress alarms, water fountains, lockers, WAPs, kiosks and any other spaces which are not workspace related2) easily and quickly manage moveable furniture for agile clients
showing of additional or removal of workpoints on Locator/Engage (which doesn't have the block polylines showing anyway) and for3) Workplace validations - need to show correct workpoint locations and count quickly à this is in line with #2 where customers will want changes shown fast

Having a table that shows density (sq ft per space) would also be useful to our customers when analyzing how to optimize space

There is a strong desire to have manual mapping functionality, similar to the current space mapping functionality. Super accurate mapping is required to enable their area reporting.

For reasons such as projects in agile spaces or managing/reacting to growth in teams, this feature is almost necessary.
Also to support agile workspaces, it is important to reflect changes on floorplans quickly for temporary changes via moving polygon or point shapes.
